Rating: 9/10
Location: 1535 Dresden Row, Halifax, NS
Type Cuisine: Japanese
Anyone who knows me, will tell you that I love Japanese cuisine. So one Sunday afternoon while scrolling through possible options in Halifax, we found the new highly rated Kanpai Izakaya restaurant nearby.
Atmosphere: The restaurant was very clean and rustic, everything(bar, chairs, table, etc.) was primarily made of burnt cedar board (torched wood), as in the picture below. Kanpai was a casual environment with upbeat music, lots of seating, fresh air from garage doors. It would be a great place to grab a casual roll for lunch, study spot, or family supper.
Service: The waitress was very friendly and accommodating throughout our entire visit. The food was prepared in a timely manner, and the chef was smiling throughout the entire process. Everything was sold at a fair price (~15-20$ plate)
Food: As seen in the picture below, I ordered the combo of 10 assorted nigiri(fish on top of rice) and a spicy salmon maki roll. Everything was of high quality, especially the nigiri salmon, albacore tuna, and bluefin tuna, respectively from left to right in the picture. The nigiri was large pieces of fish and was very fresh, I was extremely impressed!

Takeaways:
